Saba A. Basria

Saba A. Basria is an Associate in the Northern California office of Murchison & Cumming, focusing her practice on law and motion. She is a strong researcher, writer, and strategic thinker who addresses legal issues with her clients' goals in mind.

In a most recent matter, Saba represented a photographer against a luxury beauty brand in a copyright infringement lawsuit in which the company initially attempted to license her client's photographs but never did. The business used many of Saba's client's photos without authorization to promote sales of their products on social media, earning close to seven figures in sales. The case went to mediation, and Saba's legal team filed for summary judgment. The case was settled, and her client walked away with a sizeable sum reflecting lost licensing fees and the profits earned by the company.

Saba obtained her bachelor's degree in international studies with a Middle East studies certificate at the University of California, Irvine, before earning her law degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Law. While in law school, she interned at a law firm, Asian Americans Advancing Justice, and Council on American Islamic Relations. Saba received pro bono honors and the Faculty Award for Highest Performance in International Justice Clinic. After law school, she clerked in the Eastern District of California for the Honorable Dale A. Drozd. Saba continued to gain experience in international law, human rights, immigration, and copyright law and taught legal research and writing to first-year law students at Golden Gate Law School. She takes joy in finding answers to complex legal questions, developing winning arguments, and the ability to convey them in a manner that is easy for others to understand.

Saba is fluent in spoken Urdu and has volunteered at the Casa Cornelia Law Center, where she translated for Urdu-speaking clients and represented an asylum seeker in immigration court. She is also conversational in French and has studied Spanish. When away from the office, Saba enjoys spending time with her friends and family, practicing yoga, walking in nature, traveling, skiing, cooking, and trying new cuisines.
